Feedback from the Lakeland Bead Fair - September 2007

Very impressive show - no pushing or shoving round stalls

Very nice - exhibition halls just the right size

The visitor count was lower than at other bead fairs
At most locations the bead fair is the prime reason for visiting the venue - therefore unenthusiastic "other halves" are cajoled into entering the event raising the door count but not necessarily sales.

Rheged gives the opportunity for beaders to browse leisurely while the rest of the family entertain themselves in other parts of the building.

I noticed that those who went into the fair stayed considerably longer than at other venues that we use, when bored children and husbands "call time" on the visit.

The café area is too small with not enough seating...
All future JL Fairs will have small seating areas around the room for those who simply want to rest for a few minutes. The refreshment facilities vary between venues.

I travelled for 50 minutes to the fair and was disappointed with the number of seed beads on offer - I could have spent the pay and display and admission fee on mail order!
I am sorry that you were disappointed, but I do not have the final hearsay on which items of stock the stallholders decide to bring, every stallholder is vetted for the items they sell to avoid over duplication of exact bead types, (there were 14 stalls in May with seed beads in their inventory), as the organiser I can only go by details given on booking forms/ from websites. Ultimately the stock choice is the stallholders own but they are more than happy to be approached before the fair so that they have an idea of the items you would like to see. I can let you know customer contact details of all stallholders.
